The Importance of a Safety Policy

A safety policy is vital in setting the safety culture within a business. It outlines the way in which safety is managed, by whom and how it is measured. The safety policy also is endorsed by the leader of the business which makes them accountable to ongoing success of the safety system.

It should be reviewed annually as the way in which the safety system is managed could change and the review process will identify these changes. Its important to keep the safety policy up to date as it is displayed in prominent locations within the business and employees have access to it also.

Once the policy is in place and endorsed it will form the base for the rest of the safety system and how it will be integrated within the business.

So, first step is to write your safety policy!!!
