Common questions
Do I need a SWMS for preparing, pouring and finishing a slab?
A SWMS is legally required when the job is high risk construction work, for example where powered mobile plant like a concrete pump or agitator is moving, near energised overhead power lines, or next to a road in use. Outside those situations a SWMS isn't mandatory, but you still have to manage the risks, and a SWMS is a sound way to record how. Clients, head contractors and prequalification portals often ask for one either way.
Does it cover concrete line blockages?
Yes. It covers being struck by concrete or a whipping line when a blocked line is opened under pressure, couplings or clamps released under pressure, and alkaline burns from concrete spray.
