Common questions
Do I need a SWMS for subfloor installation?
A SWMS is legally required when the job is high risk construction work, for example where powered mobile plant like an excavator or crane truck is moving, work near energised overhead powerlines, or where someone could fall more than 2 metres. Outside those situations a SWMS isn't mandatory, but you still have to manage the risks, and a SWMS is a sound way to record how. Builders and prequalification portals often ask for one either way.
Does it cover the crane truck licence requirements?
Yes. It sets out that a vehicle loading crane with a capacity of 10 metre tonnes or more needs the vehicle loading crane high risk work licence, that a licensed dogger directs any lift where the operator's view of the load is obstructed, and that licences are sighted and recorded before work starts.
