This Traffic Management Sign Setup Risk Assessment/JSA (Job Safety Analysis) is pre-filled and covers setting out temporary traffic management signs at a road worksite. It covers 5 activities, from the daily pre-start meeting and approaching the worksite to placing signs, with the hazards, control measures and risk ratings before and after controls for each. It's written by WHS specialists, aligned to Australian WHS legislation, and fully editable in Microsoft Word.

A risk assessment, also called a JSA, JSEA or task risk assessment, records the hazards of a task and how you control them. If the task is part of high risk construction work, the law requires a SWMS for that work, so use our Traffic Management Sign Setup SWMS instead.

Common questions
Do I need a SWMS or a risk assessment for setting up traffic management signs?
A SWMS is legally required when the work is high risk construction work, and placing signs on or next to a road in use for roadworks fits that category. Where signs are set up for something that isn't construction work, such as an event, a SWMS isn't mandatory, but you still have to manage the risks. Road authorities, principal contractors and prequalification portals often ask for one either way. If the job is high risk construction work, use our Traffic Management Sign Setup SWMS instead.
Does it include the traffic control competencies?
Yes. It lists the competencies the road authority requires, such as RIIWHS302 Implement traffic management plan and RIIWHS205 Control traffic with stop-slow bat or their current equivalents, plus any traffic controller card the road authority issues.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any hazard, control or rating, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
