This Bird, Bee and Wasp Removal Risk Assessment/JSA (Job Safety Analysis) is pre-filled and covers removing bird nests and droppings, installing bird proofing, removing bee hives and swarms, and treating wasp nests. It sets out the hazards, control measures and risk ratings before and after controls for 26 activities, from approvals and biosecurity checks to roof void entry, insecticide use and emergency response to anaphylaxis. It's written by WHS specialists, aligned to Australian WHS legislation, and fully editable in Microsoft Word.
Who it's for
Pest control and pest management businesses
Beekeepers who remove swarms and hives
Bird proofing and netting installers
Property and facilities maintenance contractors
A risk assessment, also called a JSA, JSEA or task risk assessment, records the hazards of a task and how you control them. If the task is part of high risk construction work, the law requires a SWMS for that work, so use our Bird, Bee and Wasp Removal SWMS instead.

Common questions
Do I need a SWMS or a risk assessment for bird, bee and wasp removal?
Only when the work is high risk construction work, for example removing a nest or fitting bird proofing where someone could fall more than 2 metres, or entering a roof void that is a confined space. Otherwise a SWMS isn't mandatory, but you still have to manage the risks, and a risk assessment or JSA is a practical way to record how. Clients, property managers and prequalification portals often ask for one. If the job is high risk construction work, use our Bird, Bee and Wasp Removal SWMS instead.
Does it cover protected native birds?
Yes. It includes checking approvals and permits before work starts so protected native wildlife isn't unlawfully destroyed, and reporting a notifiable pest or animal disease.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any hazard, control or rating, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
