This Quad Bike & UTV Operation SOP (Safe Operating Procedure) gives your team a clear method for safely operating quad bikes and UTVs or side-by-sides for off-road transport, inspection, patrol and light haulage. It covers pre-ride checks including the operator protection device, helmets and seatbelts, load and towing limits, terrain and route assessment, active riding technique, slopes, no passengers on single-rider quads, and responding to a rollover. Common questions
Can a passenger ride on a quad bike?
No. The SOP prohibits carrying a passenger on a single-rider quad bike because it's designed and rated for one rider only.
Does it require an operator protection device?
Yes. Riders confirm the quad bike is fitted with an operator protection device and that it, and any rollover protection structure, is in good condition.
Does it cover tractors or road vehicles?
No. Registered on-road vehicles and other powered mobile plant such as tractors or excavators aren't covered.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any step, check or hazard, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
