Do I need a SWMS for spray painting?
A SWMS is legally required when spray painting is high risk construction work, for example spraying where someone could fall more than 2 metres, in an area that may have a flammable atmosphere, or where powered mobile plant is moving. Outside those situations a SWMS isn't mandatory, but you still have to manage the risks, and a SWMS is a sound way to record how. Clients, head contractors and prequalification portals often ask for one either way.
Does it cover two-pack and isocyanate paints?
Yes. It has a separate activity for two-pack and isocyanate containing products, covering sensitisation and occupational asthma, overspray drifting onto other people, and solvent inhalation.
