Common questions
Do I need a SWMS for timber truss and roof frame installation?
A SWMS is legally required when the job is high risk construction work, for example a risk of a fall of more than 2 metres from the top plate or frame, work where cranes or telehandlers are moving, or work near energised overhead powerlines. Truss erection usually involves at least one of these. Where it doesn't, you still have to manage the risks, and a SWMS is a sound way to record how. Builders and head contractors often ask for one either way.
Does it cover temporary bracing during erection?
Yes. It covers temporary bracing and spacers during erection, the risk of progressive collapse from missing or under-nailed bracing, and securing a partly braced frame at the end of each day. Training follows the erection and bracing sequence in AS 4440.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any hazard, control or rating, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
