This Truss and Overhead Rigging (Audio Visual) SWMS (Safe Work Method Statement) is pre-filled and covers flying truss, chain hoists and AV equipment at venues, events and outdoor shows. It sets out 32 activities, from the rigging plan and point loads to de-rig, pack and emergency response, with the hazards, control measures and risk ratings before and after controls for each. It's written by WHS specialists, aligned to Australian WHS legislation, and fully editable in Microsoft Word.
Who it's for
Audio visual and production companies
Event riggers and rigging contractors
Staging, lighting and sound hire businesses
Venues, theatres and convention centres with in-house crews
Festival and outdoor event producers
A SWMS isn't only for construction. Plenty of event and AV businesses use one as the written risk assessment for rigging work, the same way others use a JSA or Safe Work Procedure.

Common questions
Do I need a SWMS for truss and overhead rigging?
Only if the work is high risk construction work, for example rigging on a construction site with a risk of a fall of more than 2 metres. Most event and venue rigging isn't construction work, so a SWMS isn't a legal requirement there. You still have to manage the risks, including dropped loads and falls from height, and a SWMS is a practical way to record how. Venues, principal contractors and event producers often ask for one.
Does it cover rigging licence requirements?
Yes. It sets out licence classes per Live Performance Australia HG03 Event Rigging: dogging for slinging and directing loads, basic rigging for single hoists and suspension points, intermediate for multiple hoist systems, and advanced where a person is suspended.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any hazard, control or rating, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
