This Strip Out of Internal Fixtures SOP (Safe Operating Procedure) sets out how to safely remove internal fixtures and fittings from a commercial space, including furniture, joinery and cabinetry, shelving and racking, display units, signage and fixed fittings. It covers checking for connected services, planning the removal sequence, unbolting and dismantling, bracing items before the last fixing comes out and safe manual handling out of the work area. It's written by WHS specialists, aligned to Australian WHS legislation, and fully editable in Microsoft Word.

Common questions
Can workers disconnect services themselves?
No. If a fixture is connected to electrical, gas or water services, isolation must be arranged and carried out by a licensed tradesperson before removal.
Does it cover removing ceilings and partitions?
No. Structural elements, suspended ceilings, floor coverings and building services are covered by the Strip Out of Existing Fitout SOP.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any step, check or hazard, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
