This Display Unit & Joinery Installation SOP (Safe Operating Procedure) covers installing pre-made display units and shop joinery, including shelving, cabinetry, counters and fixtures, on retail and shopfitting sites. It covers planning the lift, moving units with trolleys or a second person, bracing units before fixing, checking for concealed services, levelling, and securing units with rated fixings so they can't tip. It's written by WHS specialists, aligned to Australian WHS legislation, and fully editable in Microsoft Word.

Common questions
Does it cover electrical or plumbing connections?
No. Electrical and plumbing connection work must be done by a licensed tradesperson. The SOP also doesn't cover off-site manufacture, ceilings, bulkheads, doors or windows.
Can units be held in place with adhesive alone?
No. Units that could tip or fall are secured with fixings rated for their weight and the wall or floor type, not adhesive or a friction fit alone.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any step, check or hazard, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
