This Brazing & Oxy-Acetylene Set Use SOP (Safe Operating Procedure) covers setting up, lighting, using and shutting down oxy-acetylene brazing sets for copper pipework and similar work. It covers securing cylinders, checking hoses and flashback arrestors, leak testing, purging hoses, lighting and setting a neutral flame, nitrogen purging on refrigeration lines, responding to flashback, and bleeding down the set. It's written by WHS specialists, aligned to Australian WHS legislation, and fully editable in Microsoft Word.

Need more than one SOP?
This SOP is also included in the Ultimate Air Conditioning & Refrigeration SOP Bundle. At $197 for the whole bundle, it works out much cheaper than buying SOPs one at a time.
Common questions
Does it cover arc welding or refrigerant recovery?
No. Arc welding and the recovery, handling or charging of refrigerant are not covered. Before brazing on refrigeration pipework, refrigerant must already be recovered by a licensed person.
Does it require flashback arrestors?
Yes. Workers confirm flashback arrestors are fitted at both the regulator end and the torch end of the oxygen and fuel gas hoses before use.
What eye protection does it call for?
Welding goggles or a face shield with a shaded filter lens suited to gas brazing, not standard clear safety glasses.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any step, check or hazard, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
