This Customer Plant Demonstration and Handover SWMS (Safe Work Method Statement) is pre-filled for hire branches demonstrating plant to customers and handing it over. It covers 25 activities, from licence and competency checks and between-hire inspections to loading, delivery, handover paperwork and emergency response, with the hazards, control measures and risk ratings before and after controls for each. It's written by WHS specialists, aligned to Australian WHS legislation, and fully editable in Microsoft Word.

Common questions
Do I need a SWMS for plant demonstrations and handovers?
At the branch, no. Demonstrating and handing over hire plant isn't high risk construction work, so a SWMS isn't a legal requirement there. If you hand over on a construction site, one may be needed, for example where powered mobile plant is moving or someone could fall more than 2 metres. Either way you still have to manage the risks, and a SWMS is a practical way to record how.
Does it cover telehandler licences?
Yes. It explains that a telehandler isn't a forklift, so an LF licence doesn't cover it, and that the licence class depends on the jurisdiction, the machine's rated capacity and the attachment fitted. It also notes the Victorian rule for non-slewing telehandlers rated over 3 tonnes.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any hazard, control or rating, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
