This Ozone Generator Operation SOP (Safe Operating Procedure) gives your team a controlled method for using portable ozone generators to treat odours in rooms, buildings and vehicle interiors. It covers approval after a site-specific assessment, emptying and isolating the space, switching off shared air conditioning, running the generator from outside, ozone detector checks, ventilation and clearance testing before re-entry, and what to do if someone enters during treatment. It's written by WHS specialists, aligned to Australian WHS legislation, and fully editable in Microsoft Word.

Common questions
Is ozone treatment used for routine odour control?
No. The SOP limits it to cases where removing the odour source, cleaning and ventilation haven't worked, and only with a competent person's approval after a documented site-specific assessment.
Does it require an ozone detector?
Yes. A calibrated, bump-tested ozone detector is used to check adjoining spaces during treatment and to confirm the space meets your clearance criterion before re-entry.
Does it cover in-duct or laundry ozone systems?
No. Fixed in-duct and laundry ozone systems, ozone used for water treatment and fumigation with registered fumigants aren't covered.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any step, check or hazard, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
