This Colorbond Panel Installation SOP (Safe Operating Procedure) covers handling, positioning and fixing Colorbond steel fence panels and sheeting into a prepared fence line. It covers checking the wind before lifting, two-person lifts, fixing with tek screws, cutting sheet with metal shears or a nibbler, and keeping clear of open post holes and overhead power lines. Common questions
Does it cover setting fence posts?
No. Augering, setting and concreting fence posts aren't covered. It starts with panels going into a prepared fence line.
Can panels be cut with an angle grinder?
No. The SOP says to cut sheet with metal shears or a nibbler, not an angle grinder or abrasive cutting disc, and to handle fresh cut edges with care.
Does it cover roof or wall cladding?
No. Work at height on roof or wall cladding isn't covered, and any high risk construction work needs a SWMS as well as this SOP.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any step, check or hazard, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
