Do I need a SWMS for air conditioning repairs?
A SWMS is legally required when the job is high risk construction work, for example repairs with a risk of a fall of more than 2 metres, work on refrigerant lines, or work near energised electrical services. Outside those situations a SWMS isn't mandatory, but you still have to manage the risks, and a SWMS is a sound way to record how. Building managers, head contractors and prequalification portals often ask for one.
Does it cover mould and dust in units?
Yes. It covers exposure to dust, mould spores, bacteria and allergens during cleaning or servicing, respiratory irritation, and contamination of the surrounding work area. The equipment list includes an H class vacuum for dust and mould cleaning.
