Common questions
Do I need a SWMS for commercial ducted air conditioning installation?
A SWMS is legally required when the job is high risk construction work, and commercial ducted installs often are, for example roof and ceiling work where someone could fall more than 2 metres, work on or near refrigerant lines, or work near energised electrical installations. Outside those situations a SWMS isn't mandatory, but you still have to manage the risks, and a SWMS is a sound way to record how. Head contractors and prequalification portals usually ask for one.
Does it include the licence requirements?
It lists the qualifications for the work, including a high risk work licence, electrical workers and contractors licences, mechanical plumbers and work at height qualifications. Crane lifts and work at height are flagged as high risk work in the activity rows.
