Do I need a SWMS for equipment installation?
A SWMS is legally required when the installation is high risk construction work, for example fixing equipment where someone could fall more than 2 metres, or moving equipment where powered mobile plant is operating. Outside those situations it isn't mandatory, but you still have to manage the risks, and a SWMS is a sound way to record how. Head contractors and facility managers often ask for one either way.
Does it cover overhead installation work?
Yes. It covers working at height to install equipment, including falls from ladders, platforms and EWPs, and dropped tools and fixings striking someone below.
Can I change it?
