This Concrete Pour & Placement SOP (Safe Operating Procedure) covers receiving and placing concrete from an agitator truck, chute, wheelbarrow or skip, then raking, spreading and compacting it with a poker vibrator ready for screeding. It covers formwork sign-off, exclusion zones, crane-lifted skips, keeping clear of the discharge path, edge safety, task rotation and protecting skin from wet cement. It's written by WHS specialists, aligned to Australian WHS legislation, and fully editable in Microsoft Word.

Common questions
Does it cover concrete pumping?
No. Pump setup and line handling are covered in our Concrete Pump Setup & Line Handling SOP, and cutting cured concrete is covered in the Concrete Saw Cutting & Core Drilling SOP.
Do I still need a SWMS for a slab pour?
Often, yes. This SOP shows workers how to place and compact concrete safely. Where the pour is part of high risk construction work, such as work near unprotected edges or moving plant, you'll need a site-specific SWMS as well.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any step, check or hazard, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
