This Concrete Pump Setup & Line Handling SOP (Safe Operating Procedure) covers setting up and running a line pump or boom pump, from ground bearing checks and outrigger deployment to boom extension, hose control and wash-out. It covers overhead powerline distances, exclusion zones, crew communication, avoiding hose whip, releasing line pressure and clearing blockages without compressed air. It's written by WHS specialists, aligned to Australian WHS legislation, and fully editable in Microsoft Word.

Common questions
Can compressed air be used to clear a blockage?
No. The SOP prohibits compressed air on a suspected or confirmed blockage. It's only used for approved cleaning of a line known to be clear, with the specified catcher fitted.
Does it include licence requirements?
Yes. Operators confirm their licence or verified competency for the pump, including boom or line operation, is current before setting up.
Does it cover placing and vibrating the concrete?
No. It stops where the concrete leaves the hose. Placement, raking and vibration are covered in our Concrete Pour & Placement SOP, and a site-specific SWMS is also needed for this work.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any step, check or hazard, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
