This Passive Fire Penetration Sealing SOP (Safe Operating Procedure) sets out how to seal pipes, cables, cable trays, conduits and ducts passing through fire and smoke-rated walls, floors and shafts using tested fire-rated sealants, collars, wraps, pillows or mortar. It covers confirming the FRL and tested system, locating services before coring, dust control, access equipment and confined areas, installing to the tested design, labelling and recording each penetration, and emergencies. It's written by WHS specialists, aligned to Australian WHS legislation, and fully editable in Microsoft Word.

Common questions
Does it cover building fire-rated walls?
No. It covers sealing service penetrations through existing fire and smoke-rated elements. Constructing fire-rated walls or partitions isn't covered.
Can I mix components from different systems?
No. The SOP requires each sealing system to be installed strictly to its tested design, without mixing or substituting components from different fire-rated systems.
Does it cover isolating sprinklers or alarms?
No. Where sprinkler, detection or alarm systems must be impaired or isolated, the SOP refers you to a separate Fire Protection System Impairment and Isolation procedure.
Can I change it?
Yes. It's a Microsoft Word file, so you can add, remove or change any step, check or hazard, and add your own logo and details.
Does it suit my state?
Yes. It's written to the model WHS laws and suits all states and territories, including Victoria under the OHS Act and Regulations.
What if it doesn't suit my work?
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't fit for purpose.
